playing poker and teaching science: February 2011

playing poker and teaching science

My Photo
Location: Indiana, United States

I'm a middle school science teacher, wrestling coach, poker player, scuba diver, aikido black belt, amateur writer, and student of life. In the past I have tried to give back a little by volunteering at a children's home in Belmopan, Belize, Central America. I also love Frosted Flakes. I have taken a year sabbatical from my teaching position in order to sail the Caribbean. Does that sound crazy to you?

What the hell?? We're on a two-hour delay due to flooding??? I'm already showed and dressed!! I guess I should build an ark. How long is a cubit?

A good day for wrestling

We had a snow day Friday so I was pleasantly surprised when all my wrestlers actually made weight for yesterday's New Castle dual meet tourney. We wrestled very well and the swept the other teams, walking away with first place for the third year in a row.

Go Huskies!

2010 remembered

I'm a little slow getting to my annual "things to remember" post, but better late than never!
Top 10 things to remember about 2010 (in no particular order)
1. Christmas break in Cozumel
2. A big raise at work
3. My volunteer trip to Belize
4. Sitting on the start/finish line at the Indianapolis 500
5. Bowling with Anthony Gonzalas and Robert Mathes at The Peyback Bowl
6. Spring break in a penthouse in Daytona
7. My dog of 14 years, Barklie passing :-(
8. Concerts: Jimmy Buffett & Tom Petty
9. The 4th of July in St. Louis
10. Winning big in Vegas
There were other things, like a Notre Dame football game and great food at Ruth Chris, but all-in-all, one fantastic year!
Look out 2011...
