The Right Stuff
Elbert Hubbard said, "There is something far rarer, something more precious, something finer far than ability; It is the ability to recognize ability."
I would add to that sentiment that there is something finer far than accomplishment, and that is being recognized by your peers for those accomplishments.
I sat at the graduation ceremony for Honeywell's space camp for educators last Friday and they announced that it was tradition to recognize the individual that encompassed by words and actions throughout the week the embodiment of "The Right Stuff."
As my team leader read through the accolades of the individual selected, I remember thinking, "Damn....that would have be cool to receive," and being a little disappointed that I wasn't given the nod.
Then he read my name.
I received a very cool medal, but more importantly I received a scholarship for one of my students to attend space camp next summer, compliments of Honeywell.
I am so proud to have been selected for this honor, and so very excited for what lies ahead for one of my students.
